Winter Pressure for NHS
Posted or Updated on 3 Jan 2025
Local NHS services are under extreme pressure as they are looking after rising numbers of very unwell people. Flu cases have continued to skyrocket and there are also rising cases of COVID, winter vomiting bugs and respiratory (breathing) illnesses. Find out more about how to help prevent avoidable illness, protect vulnerable relatives and friends and ensure that vital NHS services are there for those who need them on 111.nhs.uk. High street pharmacists are able to help with a wide range of common ailments without needing a GP appointment or a prescription.
Please only go to A&E for a medical emergency that cannot wait. Ambulance Services across Eastern England are also under extreme pressure.
You can also use the electronic consultation feature on our website (see link on front page) to make non-urgent requests or ask for advice. This is NOT for urgent enquiries as they may not be seen for up to 72 hours at busy times.
